Every year, the grassland season in July and August and the National Day holiday are the periods of highest demand for vehicle hire in Xinjiang. During these weeks, vehicles in Urumqi and charter services with drivers become noticeably scarce, and popular models (7-seat SUVs, MPVs, minibuses) are often fully booked well in advance.
What we recommend
- Book as soon as your itinerary is settled. In peak season we suggest one to two weeks ahead; for long holidays, earlier still.
- Charter products with a driver require matching a driver's schedule, so they need more lead time than self-drive rentals.
- If your route includes seasonal roads such as the Duku Highway, confirm the current year's opening dates before fixing your rental dates.
